Tulsans have their first opportunity today at noon and Tuesday evening at 7pm to get acquainted with one of the most gifted choreographers working today — Alexei Ratmansky of the Bolshoi Ballet. Cinemark (at 71st and Memorial) will present a broadcast of Ratmansky’s 2003 “The Bright Stream,” a re-imagination of a comic ballet from the 1930s which critic Marina Harss described as “delightful and humane, and a veritable fountain of ideas.” Bursting with jokes and antics and a fair bit of cross-dressing, with a score by Dmitri Shostakovich, “The Bright Stream” has become one of the most beloved new narrative ballets in recent memory.

Here’s a link to the theater listing, and here’s Harss’ full review of a production of the ballet by ABT this past May. Enjoy!
